It is no secret that I am extremely proud of my Mum and Dad. Between them they have completed 3 London Marathons for 2 incredible charities: Macmillan Cancer Support and Meningitis Now.
Due to illness, my Mum can no longer run long distances but my word when she could she gave it her all. Mum completed several London Marathons, the Edinburgh Marathon and about a million half marathons, 10k races and not so 'fun' runs. She has more medals, trophies and complimentary t-shirts than years to her name.
This year my Dad ran his first marathon aged 58!
Having not done any exercise for about 30 years prior to his marathon training, this was going to be a challenge to say the least.
In what would turn out to be an extremely emotionally stressful day, Dad completed the London Marathon proving that age does not dictate your abilities.
For the last 10 years I have been swept up in my Mum's running achievements and now my Dad's as well. It seemed only appropriate that I apply for a ballot place at the 2015 Virgin London Marathon, I mean, it was unlikely I would get a place, right?
