Sunday 12 April (2 Weeks Until Marathon Day!)
Jon and I had a semi-good run today. We decided that today was the big one before the marathon and we were hoping to run at least 15 miles or so. Jon planned a great route that started in Archway, went all the way to Angel where we would join the towpath along Regents Canal and run all the way past Victoria Park and ending at Limehouse Basin BEFORE returning all the way back to Angel via Stratford and the Olympic Park, phew.
I actually found the run a lot more challenging than I thought I would and experienced a lot of pain in my right knee (and a lot of chafing) which meant that I had to stop running without walking at around 13 / 14 miles. We ran and walked for another mile or so until I really couldn't run any further and had to walk the rest of the way home. I was so unbelievably disappointed by this set back, especially as I hoped this would be the last long run before the marathon, but I figured it was probably best to stop rather than run through the pain and not be able to run on marathon day!
Unfortunately this means I still need to do around 18 miles - so I am hoping to do that on Thursday - that way I can start slowing down!
Because of my knee, my mum recommended that I have a cold bath - I did, it was awful.
