Spring is here! |
Bessy sunbathing! |
Jon and I set out into the unknown with the aim in mind of running around 13 miles along the towpath. The weather was absolutely beautiful, if not a little too warm, and we ran from Blisworth Mill up to Gayton, where we took a turn at the Northampton Arm (still following the canal), we then followed the towpath for miles until the path ran out (which turned out to be at the Carlsberg factory). We then ran all the way back to the boat. Unfortunately, the Garmin watch we were using ran out of battery...but we estimated that we ran around 13 miles! Another half-marathon!!
It did not feel as easy as the Silverstone race, probably because there were less people cheering and no chance of getting a medal at the end, but we did manage to complete the run! We took with us some lucozade and jelly babies which made all of the difference, especially at around 9 miles when we were desperately running out of energy!
Marathon check list:
- Need lots of sweets on marathon day for energy
- I should not wear ankle or knee supports because when you sweat, they rub like crazy
- If the weather is warm wear shorts to avoid overheating and feeling sick
