An apology...to my feet!
I just wanted to apologise to my feet for what I have put them through in the last 6 months.
Not only did I move to London and start walking everywhere, I also started training for the London Marathon. I once had lovely dainty ballet dancers feet and now they are covered in plasters and blisters. I envisage that this will get a lot worse over the next 3 weeks but after that I promise to look after you again - I will buy you a foot spa.
In all seriousness, I have learnt the value of buying proper fitting trainers and wearing socks especially made for running. I think my feet would be in a far worse state if I hadn't had my feet properly fitted for my foot shape, size and gait. If you live in or around Cambridge, I thoroughly recommend going into Advance Performance to have your trainers fitted. When I started running, I was adamant that I wanted some really flash looking Nike trainers so I looked 'fashionable' when I went running, after being talked out of that by my mum I went to have my feet analysed so I could get the best shoes for my feet. Advance Performance do a thorough gait analysis and get you running in lots of different shoes, something a lot of shops don't even bother doing, and they are all trained fitness trainers or physiotherapists. Definitely worth it.
